Veteran’s Day    Leave a comment

Today, as everyone living in the United States knows, is Veterans Day. Two years ago I was a senior in high school, I was dressed in concert black and had a patriotic Eagal necklace hanging around my neck. We had just played our annual veteran’s day service at my school and we were all in study hall. Some of my friends and I were talking about the military and one of my friends at a different table who had just recently enlisted in the army came over and asked us what we were talking about. She convinced me to go and talk to a recruiter and by January I was swearing in.

It has been a crazy adventure and I have learned so much and met so many amazing people including my amazing boyfriend.

I don’t consider myself a veteran yet. I haven’t been deployed or gotten to the end of my contract. But I just want to take a moment to thank all the veterans out there. My dad, who served in the national guard and was commended for being a great soldier winning the Command Sargent major award for the state of Minnesota (I’m pretty sure that is was it was called anyways). And my great uncle Herman and grandpa who are now passed but served during World War Two. I am honored to be serving in the military that they all served in even if it has changed a lot since they were in it. One day I hope to make them all proud. I know my dad is already proud of me but I want to show him how proud I am to be following in his foot steps and that I won’t let him down.
